I decided to upgrade an Oxygen site that I had made last year using v3.4. WordPress and all the plugins needed to be updated as well. The process was smooth and easy, so I thought I’d share the steps I took. Thanks to Phe at Oxygen for the guidance…

1) on the old site, I installed the “All-in-One WP Migration” and Export the site to a file.

2) I created a new subdomain as the migration destination (e.g., sandbox).

3) installed a new WordPress installation in the subdomain.

4) installed “All-in-One WP Migration” in the sandbox WP and used it to Import the site from the file from step 1.

5) saved Permalinks twice via Settings > Permalinks.

6) re-signed shortcodes via Oxygen > Settings > Security.

7) re-generated CSS cache via Oxygen > Settings > CSS Cache.

8) re-saved license key via Oxygen > Settings > License.

9) uploaded license for ACF Pro (since I am using it on this site).

10) updated all plugins.

11) tested the site.

12) satisfied that the site works fine, I went back to the live site and manually updated everything. Alternately, I could have exported the sandbox site using All-in-One and then imported it into the live site.
