I have a single archive template that shows a list of posts (blog home) called “News”, but also it shows this template for category archive, tag archive, and search results.

I’d like to adjust the content just a pinch depending on which archive they are viewing. So if it’s a category archive, I want to show some text “Category: suchandsuch” or if it’s a tag page it says “Tag: suchandsuch” and likewise on a search page it would show their search term.

I looked through the conditions but didn’t see any obvious way to detect what the current archive “type” is, or whether it’s the blog home.

How can I set a condition to know whether I’m on blog home, category, tag, or search? And further how can I show that current category name, tag name, or search term optionally?

My guess is the condition isn’t possible so I’d have to program a custom condition. I just want to be sure.
